Those words echo in my head daily, if not hourly, this past month. I have made the move to Wilmington, NC. I have put my house up for sale. I have decided that my life is only going to be what I want it to be if I am willing to take the necessary chances.
I'm walking the 3Day in Philly this October 16 -19! I am so excited to be walking with Jody and her sister, Karen. I still don't have my letters out, I still don't have a tentmate, but like all the other areas in my life I'm plunging ahead, with full confidence in the Divine that the manifestation will catch up with me. I will add more details later - spending lots of computer time job hunting, so I have not quite had the energy needed to Blog - please be patient.
Happy Birthday to Zach, to My Mom, to Jenna, to Vicki, to cousin Chris, to Kevin, to Ryan. Happy TODAY to all of you...let the winds of change blow wild and free in some new way in your own life.

3Day 2009 Thoughts and Castle on ABC 3/9/09
Today I walked three miles with the Tink. As I told a good friend a little bit ago, I know I could not walk 60 miles this coming weekend. It's funny how you get out of the pace, and for approximately the first three Saturdays after the 3Day you can not believe how long Saturdays last when you don't have to do 15 training miles! And as that thought wafts through your mind, it is quickly followed up with the guilty feeling that you're not training! I'm not training! I'm not helping to find a cure! We have to find a cure!
Yes, I think if you quizzed 3Day Walkers, particularly repeat Walkers, you'll find a sense of responsibility. I am not saying you can't feel that way while training for your first 3Day, but speaking for myself, so many aspects are novel it was not until we actually started walking that first Friday in 2006 until I realized - I'm helping! All my family and friends made it possible and believed that I could do this - we're a team, my supporters and me, and WE ARE GOING TO BE PART OF THE CURE! If you read any of my journal from 2006, you'll know I almost didn't get to finish.
As I trained for the 3DAY 2008 Atlanta, I know I distinctly had a purpose: I was a part of finding the cure for breast cancer. I was part, again, of finding a cure for a disease that took my Aunt Marge at 42, before her youngest, my cousin, Paul, had started grade school. I was part of finding a cure for a disease that had taken Patty Melero, a woman I'd known who had beaten breast cancer - twice - in 1993 and 1997 only to lose her life after an incredibly brave battle in 2007. I was a part of finding a cure for a disease that had taken my cousin Marty's Mom, and has taken way too many Moms - and Dads - sisters, cousins, grandmothers, and friends. I'm ready to start training. Please help me. Click on the widget off to the side, and donate...and pass it on.
Castle on ABC starting March 9, 2009
I came lately to be a fan of the fantastic Nathan Fillion. If you don't know Nathan, I hope you will tune in to Castle, a show I am hoping will become a hit for a terrific Canadian actor. If you've ever seen Firefly, a Joss Whedon creation, you will know Nathan as Captain Mal Reynolds. It's a witty and well written sci fi set in the not too distant future - 500 years hence. Cross Bonanza with Star Wars, take out any type of life form other than human, add in smart dialogue and you come up with Firefly. Castle is about a writer (Fillion) who works with the police department. I read there will be writers in guest starring roles - so we readers have an extra incentive. Watch with me!

3Day 2009 - Going Home, Bringing Friends!
This year I'll be walking the 3Day up home in Philly. Maureen will be walking with me again and I'm so excited to say so will one of my dearest friends, Jody, who is a survivor like Maureen, along with Jody's sister, Karyn. My friend, Karyn, (yes, popular name) who walked with me last year will be crewing this year in Atlanta. She has done that in the past with another friend, and fellow walker, Mary. A camaraderie of shared memories through training for and walking the 3Day stays with you forever - no matter the time that has passed since last you walked together. The women (and men) who walk bring their stories with them: you feel it in their glance, you see it in their smile, and it touches your heart in a special way.
I have a whole new excitement to be walking the 3Day 2009 in my birthplace. I know it will be emotional, and I think part of that will be walking among familiar places and seeing my extended family (hopefully - you all better come cheer us on!!!). I wouldn't be able to walk without the support of so much of my family- and friends - you can't walk without raising $2300 - and you have to lean on those you know to help you get there. It isn't easy asking for the money, but the cause is so worthwhile that you don't mind putting your heart in your throat as you help to find the cure. We must find the cure.
On a personal note: Happy Birthday, Laurie! Friends, family, and friends who are family are the best treasures on this journey called life.
